Monorean Pro Guide
The advanced version of the Monorean earpieces.
Bluetooth earpiece for MP3 player
Many users choose to record audio and save the recordings to their MP3 player for future listening during an exam. Monorean Pro not only lets you listen to previously recorded audio, but also lets you navigate between tracks using the MP3 pushbuttons. If you want to use the Monorean Pro to make a phone call during your exam, see this article for more information: Connecting the Monorean Pro Bluetooth earpiece with Your Cell Phone.
Connecting the Bluetooth earpiece to the MP3 player

Charge the control box, connecting the USB cable to the connector with the label: Make sure the USB port on your computer is in good working order. While the control box is charging, make sure the computer is turned on.
Store the device fully charged.
The battery indicator ( ) will be red indicating: charging. It’ll be fully charged once the indicator turns green.

The inductive collar should be worn around your neck. The side labelled Monorean should be placed just below your clavicle, above your breastbone. When you put a shirt on, the back side of the collar will not touch your neck but instead will hang in your upper back area, making it impossible to see.
Use cloth or plastic surgical tape to secure the collar to your body. Pay special attention to the collar areas marked Fragile Areas.
-
Connect the collar to the connector in the control box with the label:
-
Turn the control box on using the “ON-OFF“ switch Make sure it’s fully charged
-
Connect the control box to your Bluetooth MP3 player or cell phone via Bluetooth. To do so, press and hold the Bluetooth button for five seconds or until the blue light flashes. Then select the Monorean Pro device in your phone’s list of available Bluetooth devices. For more information, please refer to the manufacturer’s instruction manual for your specific model. If you are prompted for a Bluetooth password, it will be 0000. Remember that the cell phone or linked device must remain with you or within a maximum distance of four meters.
The Monorean Pro control box optimizes power usage so that the battery can perform at its best. If the primary battery of the control box runs out, it will keep a reserve to maintain the Bluetooth connection.
Once your phone is paired with Monorean Pro, the Bluetooth link Monorean Pro will not be visible to other devices.

How to use the Bluetooth earpiece with MP3
Now you have the hidden earpiece Monorean Pro connected to your cell phone or MP3 Bluetooth player. Do not forget to save the audio tracks to your MP3 player or phone.
Enter the exam room with the hidden earpiece in place, and when you’re ready to listen to your own dictations, press the “play/pause” pushbutton ( ) to begin listening to the first recording stored in your cell phone or Bluetooth MP3 player through the hidden earpiece. Press the “next track” pushbutton ( ) until you reach the desired audio file. Press the “previous track” pushbutton ( ) to go back to the previous audio recording.
Press and hold the pushbuttons to trigger the flashforward/rewind function.
You can skip ahead in the same track by pressing and holding the “next track” pushbutton if the track is too long and you want to fast forward. When you’ve reached the desired portion of the audio, simply release the pushbutton. You can press and hold the “previous track” to rewind if you went past the desired section of the recording.
What Bluetooth MP3 player should I use?
You can connect your Bluetooth earpiece Monorean Pro to any Bluetooth MP3 player. However, finding a compatible MP3 player is not always easy. As a result, we recommend that you use your phone as an MP3 player. You can use your phone as a Bluetooth MP3 player by enabling airplane mode, but keep in mind that the app you’re using must support Bluetooth functionality. For example, the iPhone app Voice Memos, does not support Bluetooth Pushbuttons, whereas the iPhone app Music does.
We recommend using a cell phone with airplane mode activated instead of a Bluetooth MP3 player.
If you are still interested in using a Bluetooth MP3 player with your Monorean Pro hidden earpiece, you will need a Bluetooth MP3 player with AVRCP and A2DP profiles. Specifically, AVRCP will enable navigation between audio tracks, while A2DP will provide audio compatibility. Few manufacturers will provide the technical specifications of the Bluetooth they provide; therefore, trial and error will predominate.
App recommendations for cell phone
If you use a cell phone instead of an MP3 player as we suggest, you will need an MP3 player app and a way to transfer your audio files to your phone. We have a detailed guide on how to do that: App recommendation and how to transfer MP3 files to your phone.
